The Cayman Islands are one of the world’s largest financial centres. The three Cayman Islands, Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac and Little Cayman, are located in the western Caribbean about 460 miles south of Miami, Florida, and 167 miles northwest of Jamaica. George Town, the capital, is on the western shore of Grand Cayman. Grand Cayman, the largest of the three islands, has an area of about 76 square miles and is approximately 22 miles long with an average width of four miles.
The Cayman Islands has a stable government, sophisticated infrastructure and a strong economy based on international banking and tourism. The Cayman Islands’ financial services industry covers areas such as investment funds, captive insurance, trusts, structured finance arrangements, banking services and vessel registration. The Cayman Islands are host to over 80,000 companies and more than 9,000 regulated investment funds.
